![]() ![]() Oregon police officers started looking first into Kaylee’s boyfriend Camron because in this type of case it’s usually the partner the guilty one. Kaylee was then oficcialy reported missing. Oregon police told them that maybe she had gone to a friend’s house and she would probably be back to her job on Monday morning, everybody knew Kaylee was too responsible to miss work. Then he decided to call 911 and explain the situation to the police. Camron called Kaylee’s mom, Juli VanCleave, to see if maybe she was with her but no luck. Camron drove around the neighborhood to see if he could find her but she was nowhere so he drove back home and went to bed thinking he would wake up to his girlfriend sleeping next to him but next morning Kaylee wasn’t there. They continued to argue through text messages and at some point Camron told her it was late and to please come home, but Kaylee sent one more message saying she was running out of battery and said bye. When Kaylee Sawyer and Camron got home, he went into the apartment thinking Kaylee was coming right behind him but she stayed outside and sent him a message saying she needed to go for a walk to cool off, this wasn’t really unusual for Kaylee, so Camron didn’t make a big thing of it. ![]() Once in the car, Kaylle and Camron had an argument. When the party was dying, around midnight, Kaylee called Camron and asked him to pick her up. On the night of Saturday July 23, 2016, Kaylee had been invited to a friend’s bachelorrete party, her friends said Kelley was having a lot of fun and she was even flirting and dancing with a guy. Kayle lived in an apartment near to college campus with her boyfriend of two years, Camron Reimhofer. She loved her job and wanted to become a dentist herself. 23 year old Kaylee sawyer was a student of Central Oregon Community College and she worked as a dental assistant. Her parents were Jamie Sawyer and Juli Walden VanCleave, they got divorced when Kaylee was a kid, she had four younger brothers. Kaylee Sawyer was born on Main Bend, Oregon. Edwin Lara had an urge to kill and said killing Kaylee made him feel good. Lara changed his plea in January and was sentenced to life in prison.ĭeschutes County District Attorney John Hummel told NewsChannel 21 that his office is still investigating whether anyone else was involved in the events after Sawyer was killed.Ĭurrently, Lara has begun serving his life sentence at Snake River Correctional Facility in Ontario.ĭateline NBC is set to film here in Central Oregon soon and air a special report on the case in May.Kaylee Sawyer, was kidnapped, choked, raped and her head was brutally smashed. “It just doesn’t make sense to me because, Im like, how can somebody do that? Lara said, “I want to tell you where the body is, but I want to go home first.” Hours later, investigators from Deschutes County were interviewing Lara, asking him to tell them where Sawyer’s body was. He then carjacked a car with a man’s family inside and led police on a high-speed chase before being arrested. Lara then headed south to Northern California, where authorities said he shot a man at a Yreka, California, motel. He also writes he killed her in the COCC parking lot and ended the note by writing that he would forever love his wife. He ditched his vehicle but left a note apologizing to Sawyer’s father and mother and stating he had only wanted to silence Sawyer, but not forever. There, Ponce-Lara found Sawyer’s green purse and black shoes and the large rock with blood on it that was used in the crime.Īuthorities said Lara fled Central Oregon and carjacked Aundrea Maes, of Salem. Lara, in a panic, grabbed his wife’s gun from her purse and, getting ready to take off, he told his wife that Sawyer’s belongings were in their shed. Lara originally told his wife that he had hit Sawyer with a Central Oregon Community College vehicle, but evidence showed the campus patrol vehicle Lara was driving didn’t have any scratches or marks on it. ![]()
